Door jamb switches are designed to be self adjusting because they fit many different models. The switch is designed to adjust contact depth by installing the switch and closing the door to push the inner sleeve deeper into the mounting nut. If you choose not to use this method simply put the switch into a vise and tap the plunger with a hammer or mallet (be sure not to bent or damage the switch). This will push the inner sleeve deeper into the mounting nut and adjust the plunger depth. There for saving your expensive paint job.
